Today is the 50th Anniversary of President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s “Farewell Address.” The indispensable journal “The American Conservative” devoted its cover story to a symposium revisiting different aspects of the address. I was invited to reconsider Eisenhower’s ambivalence toward the necessary dominance of the natural sciences that the Cold War would require. You can find my entry here, and the entire symposium here.
